Found out yesterday what many of you already know: Michael Jackson has passed away at the age of 50 from cardiac arrest.

I am very saddened by this. My entire generation will now have to learn what it's like to live without him. As a member of Deviantart and an artist, I can say honestly that the world has lost one of its shining stars in music. I grew up watching much of Michael's groundbreaking work; the advent of Thriller, Remember the Time, Heal the World, Black or White, and so many others.

As I'm sure we all will take time to honor the memory of this incredible, timeless entertainer, I think we should also find time to celebrate his contributions. Yes, it hurts that he is gone, but we can find refuge in his work, and joy in his music. He will never be truly gone until he is forgotten, and I don't believe that will ever happen because of his monumental impact on so many lives.

So, personally, I tip my hat and raise my glass to you, the King of Pop, and wish you nothing but peace and happiness. You thrilled us all.

At AWA '09 in atlanta this year, my group and I will intend to give a sort of send off, a memorial if you will. Anyone who comes is free to join in, just have the soul for getting down. "Thriller" will be played in the main atrium, and its okay if you don't know the dance, it's the spirit that counts.
